I feel that everything we have to express ultimately comes from the heart and our true intentions will be revealed eventually. This is why I feel it is imperative that I let the Holy Spirit work in my heart both in prayer at home and at the church services. I have learned that it is almost impossible to change your actions without having a change of heart. Pastor Bill at Bear Creek Church always say you can't go to a Cardiologist to change (the motivations of) your heart, only God can do that. Sometimes life experiences will give us a change of heart too, like the birth of a first child or the death of a Parent. With creating music that many people will hear comes great responsibility. The things that are said and expressed have the potential to touch people deeply and I do not want to take that lightly.
Lately I have been holding off on writing to focus on getting my heart in the right place. With the conviction of the Holy Spirit I have been working on true repentance (actually refraining from doing the things that cause me to feel guilty and replace those behaviors with more constructive ones.) I am learning through Joyce Meyers that after repentance comes restoration and I can't wait for that.. looking forward to writing soon.. Lance West
